Are you Hilari's perfect match?
For more information contact:
One summer day, Hilari began to complain about leg pain, and she had trouble walking. Doctors diagnosed her with severe aplastic anemia, a condition where her body does not make enough blood cells.
Her only hope for a cure is a bone marrow match.
How GenCure is jumping in to help
GenCure, a partner and authorized donor center of the Be The Match Program (National Marrow Donor Registry), coordinates donor registration, marrow donation and search activities providing donor suitability, management, collection and processing of stem cells for patients hoping for a cure.
Its marrow donor program hosts marrow registration drives and special events across South Texas to find donors for patients like Hilari and promote awareness about the urgent need for more potential donors.
What does signing up for the registry entail?
Signing up for the Be The Match Registry simply means you are making yourself available to patients who might one day need you.
If you are between the ages of 18 to 44, please register. Registering only takes about 5 minutes and consists of paperwork and a cheek swab. The swabs collect DNA samples to determine your HLA typing which is used to match with a patient's HLA type.
