Who:

GenCure, a subsidiary of nonprofit BioBridge Global, is hosting a superhero-themed trivia night at the Cherrity Bar to raise awareness about lifesaving marrow and stem cell donations.

What:

Hero-themed trivia night will feature real-life heroes – donors who have given marrow and stem cells for patients with blood cancer and diseases. Patients who have received a marrow or stem cell transplant from lifesaving donors will also be present.

“There’s a lot of misconceptions about the donation process,” said Michaela Schneider, a University of Incarnate Word student who donated last year. “Even if you never get that call after signing up, you were willing to give of yourself to someone else.”

Donors will talk about their donation experiences between rounds of trivia. Trivia categories include a range of real-life and fictional heroes, from heroes of science to heroes of comics.

When:

Thursday, May 9
6:30-8 p.m.
Cherrity Bar
302 Montana St., San Antonio, TX 78203

Every year, 14,000 blood cancer and blood disease patients need a stem cell or bone marrow transplant. GenCure works with Be the Match to find potential donors in South Texas.

GenCure is one of three charities featured at the Cherrity Bar this month. Visit GenCure.org/cherritybar for more information.
