Stone Oak Community Invited to Sign Up for Registry

Friends, family and the community at large will have a chance to save a life on Tuesday, May 26, at a marrow drive for San Antonio firefighter Mike Grosso.
 
The Stone Oak Business Association, Welcome Home Community Newspaper and Bob’s Big Burgers are sponsoring a marrow drive in honor of Grosso, a 14-year veteran of the SAFD who is suffering from leukemia, from 4-8 p.m. that day at Bob’s Big Burgers, 4553 N. Loop 1604 West.
 
Nonprofit celebrates 40 years in community and other milestones

BioBridge Global (BBG), a San Antonio, Texas-based nonprofit organization focused on regenerative medicine, blood resource management and biologic testing, is proud to announce the release of its 2014 Annual Report.

The report details a transformative year for BBG, including a name change, implementation of comprehensive strategic plans for each business unit and expansion of services for the health care industry, all with the aim of continuing its longtime mission of saving and enhancing lives around the world.

We’re proud to announce that BioBridge Global CEO Linda Myers has been named one of the winners of the 2015 Health Care Heroes awards, given each year by the San Antonio Business Journal.

Myers was one of the winners in the category of Outstanding Health Care Executive – Nonhospital-Based.

BioBridge Global (BBG) board members Mike Kreager and John Feik submitted letters in support of Myers’ nomination, as did Dr. Steve Davis and Ann Stevens. Davis is a co-founder of San Antonio-based biomedical firm StemBioSys Inc.; and Stevens is president of BioMed SA, a nonprofit organization that supports the biomedical industry in our city.

ACUI annual conference partnered with GenCure to prepare 6k marrow registration packets.

GenCure tapped into the energy of hundreds of students and professionals gathered in the Alamo City last week for the annual Association of College Unions International (ACUI) conference. The goal was to educate domestic and international students and staff about the importance of becoming marrow donors.

More than 300 U.S. and international students and professionals volunteered their time Saturday, April 11, to learn about how marrow donors are saving lives. They assembled 6,500 marrow donor registration kits for GenCure Cellular Therapy Center.

Sean Thompson named interim COO of BBG subsidiary

BioBridge Global (BBG) Chief Executive Officer Linda Myers has accepted the resignation of Michael F. Moloney, chief operating officer for BBG subsidiary GenCure, effective immediately. Sean Thompson, current vice president of Business Development, has been named interim chief operating officer as a search ensues in the coming weeks to fill the executive position.
