Donor Family Support

The GenCure Tissue Center always seeks to honor your legacy of tissue donation and provides support for your family. Our bereavement programs are designed to aid in the transition for your family.

All family members are welcome to our seminars and workshops, which are presented by grief counselors, clergy and health care professionals throughout the year.

The bereavement programs are an informal way to learn about the grieving process. Each program topic and presenter is carefully selected, and family members can either participate or simply listen. Tissue Center team members always are present to help.

For more information on the GenCure Tissue Center bereavement programs, please contact our bereavement coordinator, Susan Smith at (210) 757-9425, ext. 1703 or by email by clicking here.

Programs

"Our Hearts Remember" Quilt
The “Our Hearts Remember” Quilt program will serve to provide donor families with the opportunity to honor their loved ones’ memory as well as offer a tribute to their loved one’s gift of tissue donation through a quilt square on the quilt. Quilts will be displayed at special events such as Memorial/ Remembrance services, advocacy events, and quilt dedication services held throughout the year. The quilts will serve as a message of love, remembrance and gratitude.

There is not a deadline to submit quilt squares. As quilt squares are received, they will be quilted together by the Greater San Antonio Quilt Guild, to create full-size quilts that will serve as a tribute to our donors.

Throughout the year, “Decorate Your Quilt Square” workshops will be scheduled to provide ideas on designing your quilt square, provide tips on sewing and/or iron-on photos on your quilt square and to meet with other donor families. Please see our calendar for upcoming events or contact our bereavement coordinator at (210) 757-9425, ext. 1703 or by email for more details.
